Made a three course desert for visitors to Hawk Hill today. This one: miniature custard cups filled with cherry cobbler made from the LAST jar of home canned cherries remaining from last summer's harvest from my cherry tree.

Made a three course desert for visitors to Hawk Hill today. This one: blueberry-ricotta mousse prepared with homemade ricotta cheese (made by cooking the whey leftover from mozzarella cheese) and homemade blueberry jam. Garnished with edible flower leaves and homemade Crème fraiche. Served in mini martini glasses. ($2 at Pier 1! Luff!)

My family is visiting tonight. They always fight over my pies... So I made a pie chart! (for the record, IMO food coloring markers were the single best invention of the last decade.)

LOL Erica. I was thinking "rainbow brite" when I made it, and as soon as we cut into it one of my older brothers was like "Why did you make a gay cake?" and my other brother (the other Christian in the family) piped "That's a covenant rainbow!!!" Christmas is interesting, here. ;-)

I call this the 'God's-Covenant-Rainbow pride cake'. And I think she's just trying to tell us she's a culinary savant because I just ate a piece of this cake and it doesn't taste at all how I would imagine a Gay-Rainbow pride cake would taste. Not that I've ever tried any cake like that... or would want to.

Every year I make my garbage men a special Christmas treat. Last year I made them homemade peppermint patties, this year, rice krispie trees. In exchange they carry away massive amounts of boxes and the occasional equine afterbirth with no complaint.
