Feminine and Masculine features are often overlooked in breeding, but most horse breed registries specificy that mares should look feminine and stallions should appear masculine. The testosterone in stallions usually creates masculine features (such as a thicker neck and larger jowels) regardless of breeding, but the feminine trait in mares is less common.
