This photograph shows a bashkir curly tacked up and ready to be used in a riding lesson. The curly mane can be exceptionally thick, so sometimes it's easiest to do a running braid and keep it out of the way. In this photo, I've done an inside out french braid, braiding under instead of over, so the braid "pops" out.
