This photograph shows a Bashkir Curly and a rider stopped and halted in a beam of sunlight in an indoor arena. This Bashkir Curly, is a good example of a Bashkir Curly winter coat. Even with thick curls all over the body, most Bashkir do not need to be clipped even when worked regularly in the winter. The Bashkir Curly coats is excellent at regulating body heat. When a Bashkir Curly is heavily worked in the winter and begins to sweat, the Curly coat unfurls somewhat allowing the heat to dissipate into the air and wicking moisture away from the skin. These horses have their own winter cooler!
